What is the Sandalwood Sanctuary?

The Sandalwood Sanctuary is a place to refresh, reflect and renew your spirit in a setting of parkland, wildlife & indian sandalwood plantations. Bordering native bush near Ivanhoe Crossing, the Sanctuary is 83 hectares of Indian Sandalwood and 30 hectares of bushland about 10km from Kununurra. Originally the site of the Kimberley Milk dairyfarm, it has since been converted to an Indian Sandalwood plantation, and a Wildlife Sanctuary with a future tourism business planned around the Lake setting in the centre.

While not open to the public yet, we have big plans for walking trails, cafe and local produce displays, indian sandalwood factory, picnic and outdoor play area as well as a kids playground. Please email us if you have any ideas on what would be good to include in the design, or with any websites you know of which have wildlife parks that you think were fantastic or interesting.

Sandalwood Walking Trail

We are developing a scenic walk through our sandalwood plantation, so that you can see these special trees close up. This walk is only available through our approved tour guides, please visit their websites to find a tour that suits you. Even if they don't stop at our plantation, they all travel past on their way to the popular Ivanhoe Crossing.
